Md. Wasim Kureshi is a dedicated Ball Badminton player and coach from Delhi whose long-standing contribution to the sport reflects commitment, discipline, and continuous development of young talent. Beginning his Ball Badminton journey in the early competitive years, he steadily progressed through state and national-level championships, establishing himself as a consistent performer and later transitioning into an influential coaching role.

Early Career and Playing Achievements

Wasim Kureshi gained recognition during his early competitive years by performing strongly in state and national tournaments. He secured First Position at the Ball Badminton State Level Championship (2011–2012) and continued to participate in several major competitions across India. His participation in the All India Invitation Ball Badminton Federation of India Tournaments, along with strong finishes including Second Position (2014) and Third Position (2015), further strengthened his standing as a competitive athlete.

He also competed in multiple Senior National Ball Badminton Championships, including the championships held in Vijayawada (2015), Mangalore (2017), and Gadchiroli, Maharashtra (2023–24), demonstrating his sustained presence in high-level competition over the years.

International Representation

Due to his consistent national-level performances, Md. Wasim Kureshi earned selection for the Indian Ball Badminton Team in the India–Nepal International Ball Badminton Test Series 2026 held in Kathmandu, Nepal. The Indian team delivered an outstanding performance during the series and secured the Gold Medal, with Wasim Kureshi playing an important role as a squad member. This achievement marked a significant milestone in his sporting career and highlighted his contribution to India’s international success in Ball Badminton.

Coaching Career and Player Development

Apart from his playing achievements, Wasim Kureshi has built an extensive coaching career, working with several reputed schools and sports institutions in Delhi, including Lawrence Public School, Sarvodaya Co-Ed Senior Secondary School Janakpuri, Kalindi College, Bharati College, Vikas Puri Sports Complex, and Saraswati Aanchal School, where he continues to train young athletes.

Under his coaching guidance, teams from Saraswati Aanchal School achieved strong results in the Delhi State Ball Badminton Championships, including First Position (2022–23) and Second Position (2023–24) in Sub-Junior Boys categories, along with podium finishes in girls’ categories. His coaching work reflects a strong focus on grassroots talent development and structured training programs.

Education and Professional Background

Md. Wasim Kureshi completed his academic education in New Delhi and later pursued professional sports training, earning B.P.Ed. from Punjabi University Patiala along with Sports Coaching certification from SAI Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat. His academic and professional qualifications have strengthened his ability to train athletes using scientific coaching methods and structured practice systems.
