Amit Sharma: A Journey of Discipline, Sport, and Determination
Amit Sharma was born on 4 March 2000 in Kanpur, India. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Delhi, where his early education began. For a brief period, he was sent to a hostel in Dehradun for schooling, but due to his young age, he was later brought back to Delhi. His family also spent a year in Uttarakhand before finally settling again in Delhi, where Amit continued his studies and built the foundation of his future.
At the age of 14, Amit discovered his passion for Ball Badminton and began training seriously. His dedication quickly produced remarkable results. During his school years (Classes 9 to 12), he consistently secured first place at the zonal level for four consecutive years and also achieved first place at the Delhi State level, establishing himself as a promising young player. While studying in Class 9, he represented himself at the National Championship in Pune, marking the beginning of his national-level sports journey. Since then, sports have remained a constant part of his life.
After completing his 12th standard, Amit pursued his graduation from Delhi University’s Satyawati College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree while continuing his active participation in sports. Soon after graduation, he cleared professional interviews and began working at Genpact, where he balanced office responsibilities with daily sports practice—working during the day and training on the field in the evening. He later enrolled in an MBA program but decided to discontinue it after one year, choosing instead to focus on his professional path and personal goals.
Alongside his professional and sporting commitments, Amit developed a deep interest in research and writing. This passion led him to write his book titled “Ball Badminton,” dedicated to spreading awareness and knowledge about the sport. During this period, he transitioned professionally from Genpact to DXC Technology, an American multinational company, while continuing to complete his book. After finishing the manuscript, he published the book globally through Amazon and also printed local editions, promoting them through social media and sports communities to reach athletes and enthusiasts across different regions.
Despite managing professional responsibilities, writing, and sports simultaneously, Amit continues to remain active in Ball Badminton and believes strongly in continuous effort and discipline. He often shares two guiding thoughts from his personal philosophy:
“Even if I move down in life, my books should always rise higher.”
“A person must keep working, whether times are good or bad — time eventually turns good on its own.”
Amit Sharma’s journey reflects persistence, balance, and commitment. As a working professional, athlete, and author, he continues to promote his book among sports communities while actively pursuing his sporting career, demonstrating that consistent effort and passion can successfully move together in life.
